Snow, cacti and flamingoes

I think I went a little stir crazy this week after three days at home after all the snow. Probably just the same as normal really! We had quite a bit of snow here in Norfolk, the buses stopped running and postman didn't come for three days. It was quite exciting when all my yarn deliveries arrived at once on Saturday morning! Anyhow there I was converting my little bunny wabbit pattern into an egg cosy and suddenly I thought why not make a cactus egg cosy, then one became three and here they are!

Cactus Egg Cosy

You will need:
3.5mm/4mm crochet hook (depending on your yarn, tension and the size of your eggs!)
50g ball green DK cotton yarn (I used Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK from LoveCrochet in Lime Green, Spearmint Green and Grass Green)
A small amount of bright cotton yarn for the edging and flower, together with a small amount yellow for the centre (I used Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK in Bubblegum Pink, Lipstick Pink, Bright Peach, Buttercup Yellow and Daffodil Yellow)
Yarn needle

This pattern is written in UK terms (1dc is equivalent to 1sc in US terms)
ch - chain
sl st - slip stitch
dc - double crochet
dec - decrease (dc two together)
tr – treble
tr2tog – tr two together (Yarn over hook (yoh), insert hook through first stitch, yoh, pull
through, yoh and pull through first two loops leaving two loops on hook. Yoh, insert hook through
same stitch, yoh, pull through, yoh and pull through first two loops leaving three loops on hook.
Yoh pull through all three loops)
